Saving for a wedding is stressful. We all wish weddings weren’t so expensive. You’re busy planning a wedding so you’ll want some passive income ideas. This post will share EASY ways to make extra money for your wedding.
These are not “get rich” ideas but they are so easy to do you’ll wish you started sooner. All of these recommendations are ones that I currently use so that I can speak to them. I’m sure there are more options out there and if there are, I want to know about them.
If you sign up for any of these things using my link, I may receive a small bonus. So thank you in advance.
Snapping Pictures of Receipts
This is one of the easiest things you’ll do. You go shopping, you’re given a receipt, just take 5 seconds to snap a picture of the receipt to get cash back!
Ibotta
I’ve been using this app for years, it was the first cash back apps that I signed up for. I use this for grocery shopping. Pick the retailer you are shopping at, then scroll through the products adding the items you purchased. Side note: these are brand specific unless it says “any item”. Click the “submit receipt” button at the bottom and that’s it. With this one, you have to wait until you reach $20 to cash out. You can cash out using gift cards or linking your bank or paypal account. My lifetime earnings are $468. In my opinion this one takes a bit longer to add up but I still use it because why not? It’s easy money.

Receipt Pal
This one’s super easy. You can snap any receipt to get points. Every 4 qualifying receipts that you take a picture of earns you 100 points. When you get 2200 points you can redeem a $5 retail gift card. Link your email and the app will scan your email for receipts from online sales as well. Super easy, and barely any effort here.
Fetch Rewards
This one is the easiest and most return for your “work”. I use that term loosely because the most work you are doing is taking a picture of your receipt. Take a picture of ANY receipt and the app scans the products you purchased for you. So unlike Ibotta, you don’t have to scroll through to see if you purchased an 8 pack of Angel Soft toilet paper. If you don’t have any items that match, that’s okay, you’ll still get 25 points. Each day you get a bonus spin to earn more points, but you’re only allowed 1 spin per day so I let my receipts add up for a few days to get a bonus spin daily. Your points add up and you can redeem for gift cards. I saved for amazon gift cards and used it towards our wedding favors. See-I told you that you could make extra money for your wedding.

Get Upside
This is mainly for gas but there are restaurants on the app too! It’s super easy to use. Search gas stations in your area. It’ll tell you how much cash back they are offering (and it changes often). Click “claim” then click “I’ve paid” after you have paid. It works the same way with restaurants. You just have to upload your receipt within 4 hours of your purchase. Sometimes it takes a few days to process your cash back. Redeem for gift cards, paypal or to your bank account. My lifetime earnings are $246!

Cashback On Purchases
Did you know that you can get paid for online shopping?
Rakuten
Literally anything I bought for the wedding I went through Rakuten. Gifts for the bridal party, my wedding shoes, wedding jewelry, wedding favors, save the dates, invitations, bridal attire all purchased through Rakuten. It’s super easy to do. Search retailers, hit the purple “Shop Now” button and that’s it. The app will redirect you to the retailer site and you do your shopping there. You’ll get an email that your cash back is being processed if a purchase was made. Every few months they send you a cash back check in the mail.

Surveys
We all have a little bit of downtime. You can make some extra money for your wedding from your couch!
Branded Surveys
Out of all of the survey sites I’ve tried I feel like this one is the biggest bang for your buck. I downloaded the app and did surveys right from my phone. It gives you survey options indicating how many points are being offered and the length of time it’ll take. There’s a daily poll that will give you 5 points per day just for answering the poll question. With this one you can cash out after $5 which is more achievable than other sites out there.

Selling Things
You’d be surprised what people will buy. You might even feel better about decluttering your house or closet knowing that you can make some money off of it.
Mercari, eBay, and OfferUp
I would suggest selling on all 3 of these platforms. If you’re going to take pictures of the items you’re selling, you may as well optimize your sales by posting them on more than 1 platform.
Offerup is one that you have to meet up with people in your area so you avoid fees and shipping costs. You do have an option to ship your items out as well.
Mercari and eBay are online selling platforms. They each take a selling and processing fee but in my opinion it’s still worth selling on them. eBay is the largest market but that means the prices could be a little bit more competitive.
Not only would I use this to make some extra money but I would use it to save some extra money too. We got our cake stand and bird cage card holder on here, for a significantly cheaper price.
Paying for a wedding is stressful and even though these are not “get rich” options they are the easiest ways for you to make extra money for your wedding during this financially stressful time in your life.
