Spending so much on a wedding dress to wear for just one day might seem like a waste. This post will give you some ideas of what to do with your wedding dress after your big day.

Have It Cleaned & Preserved
Take it from me, the bottom of your white dress is going to be so dirty by the end of your wedding night. You’ll definitely want to get it cleaned regardless of what you do with it after. I absolutely loved my dress and it’s something I wanted to have preserved to possibly have for some of the mentioned uses later on, so I had my dress sent out to be cleaned and preserved by getting the Wedding Gown Preservation Kit. The directions were so easy and straightforward and the turnaround time was faster than they predicted.
Wear On Your Anniversary
How fun would it be to take it out every year on your anniversary? Take a picture in it or with it each year with your spouse and document your marriage growing old together.
Let Your Daughter Play Dress Up
I feel like it is every daughter’s dream to play dress up with their mother’s wedding dress.
Take a picture every year and watch your daughter grow up. It’s a sentimental memory she will cherish and a great use for your wedding dress. You’ll have the photos when it’s her time to get married.
Have It Made Into Something
I saw this on Etsy and wish I did this with my mom’s wedding dress. It’s a great idea for your “something old”. Have your mom’s wedding dress made into a purse and take a piece of her wedding day into yours. You could also have yours made into a purse for an heirloom keepsake.
This a great keepsake idea if you want to use a small portion of your dress or from your scraps after alterations have been made.
Sell It
If it’s not sentimental to you and you are really wanting to make some money back from your wedding you could sell your wedding dress. There are plenty of brides that might want a used wedding dress. You could save a bride a significant expense. You could sell is on Postmark, but know they take a small commission. Some other sites such as Nearly Newlywed or Still White take no commission.
Donate It
Again, this option is for those who have no sentimental attachment to their dress. You could donate it and feel really great about giving back. There are a few options out there. Brides Against America is a non-profit organization that donates wedding dresses to those in the military or first responders. You could also donate it through Brides Against Breast Cancer.
I hope this post helped give you ideas of what to do with your wedding dress after your wedding. Regardless you’ll feel good about putting it to use for more than just your wedding day.
